Cuba Vetoes Open Records

Successful societies tend to be open societies. Openness encourages the trust necessary to encourage individuals to make the long term social and financial investments associated with economic and social growth.

Cuban leaders either do not understand the concept of openness or manage the country for their own benefit.

According to the CIA Factbook, Cuban per capita GDP is $3,900, one third that of Mexico. Cuba individuals continue to vote with their feet. According to the US Coast Guard, they intercepted 2,810 individuals attempting to cross the Straits of Florida in fiscal year 2006.
